Cherie Gil Confirms Separation

After many days of being quiet, Cherie Gil now confirms that she has parted ways with her husband, the Israeli violinist Roni Rogoff. Cherie is now here in the Philippines with her son while another son and daughter are in Israel with their father. No reason for the break-up was given and she had to accept what happened although her heart aches with pain. Give space to one another but not losing the connection emotionally.

Married with two children

This woman is very trusting to her husband who is working outside their region. They live apart because of her husbands work. He only comes home every two weeks to be with his family and that he will leave again for work. This has been their routine. One day, her husband went home unexpectedly saying that he had converted into Islam because he wanted to marry another woman who he has been living with this time. Ouch! She felt that she was stabbed 20 times or more. It hurts her a lot. She is now filing an annulment case (abandonment) to be legally separated with his husband.

My Sister’s New Hobby

My sister has a new hobby which is baking. She is doing this to have some extra income because she has a baby now. My father arrived in Cagayan de Oro and traditionally, she always invites him for dinner. While cooking dinner, she offered our father her freshly baked chiffon cake. As usual, it is a trademark of my father to criticize food we prepare like too salty, too sweet, et cetera. Well, for this chiffon cake its different is it too pale. When our friend arrived and tasted also the cake she then asked my sister if she forgot to include the egg yolk. My sister was so silent slowly sneaking at her room looking at her recipe notebook. At the corner of her paper notebook it was written there add 6 pieces of egg yolk. Well, in fairness even though it’s pale it still tastes like chiffon cake. Next time read your notes sis.

Bless Father

Mano Po is one of the Filipino cultures were we pay respect to the elders by placing the hand (back) of the elder to your forehead. Every time we attend church back home (Cagayan de Oro), we usually see kids run towards the priest after mass to pay respect to the celebrant priest. It is good to see that children are still taught to practice this act of respect.

Windshield Washing

Life is really difficult nowadays. People are finding different ways in order to survive everyday and one of their schemes is washing windshields of private cars, public utility jeepneys, and even motorela (four-wheeled vehicle). Every time these transportation vehicles are caught in traffic or in a stop due to red light these street children rushed to highway to clean the windshield in 2-3 seconds. They just wipe the windshield with foam soaked in diluted soap and pour water (1-2 times) using a dipper. They carry pail with them. They do this every time it is raining. Some drivers pay them 1.00 Php.

Line up guys!

My friend shall we say during her young days entertained suitors simultaneously from good-looking to lets say less attractive guy. But despite all this lined up guys, she always wonder why she got pregnant by the latter one on the list. The guy proposed to her (in marriage) after she gave birth. But, she turned down his proposal because she is now used in taking care or raising their daughter alone. She is happy now and enjoys life with her.

Teleserye or Soap Operas

Filipinos just love soap operas or what we call it in our dialect teleserye. Day time serials or “Soap Operas,” are characterized by a number of common features, which even the most casual viewer can recognize. Each daily installment lasts only thirty to sixty minutes, a large portion of which is devoted to reviewing the events of the recent past. Most of them involve in a limited, self-contained cast of characters whose relationships evolve over time and have been known to swing wildly from one emotional extreme to another.

Rainy Season

Each rainy season, many Filipinos are made uncomfortable by either a head cold or flu symptoms. The common head cold is easy enough to recognize, being characterized by nasal suffiness, sore throat and headaches, and sometimes a cough or an earache. Cold sufferers may also run low-grade fevers and they have limited means to combat colds besides bed rest and aspirin. Fortunately, however, most head colds are brief, disappearing usually within seven days.
